We had "basic cars" those cars were assigned to basic geographical areas within a LAPD division.
The longer the same officers worked the basic cars - under the Senior Lead Officer - the more Intimate they became with the crime issues. The next shift would come in - we would meet with them while they were picking up their gear from the kit room. At the same time we were turning in our gear - we discussed what went on within the area in a Briefing type Format. This scenario was beyond the walls of the "roll call" which took place before our watch started. At Roll call you would get the complete picture - but the more pinpointed data was always given "officer to officer".With real estate - we love to brief. Where is the market today? Where do we think it will be in 6 months? What about Foreclosures - are they going to come out in more volume? Should I short sale and what is the benefit? Those questions come to us on a daily basis. So we write about them.
