I get it.  We don't wear shoes in our home - but we don't require any of our guests that enter our humble abode to adhere to these rules.

LAFD911 real estate website for fire departmentsWe also aren't trying to get top dollar for our home, presently.

However, knowing what I know about real estate buyers, I would for go the, "having to take off shoes" part.

What if it's raining and muddy outside?   I have found that most buyers are happy to oblige when those situations occur. In fact, most buyers don't have to be asked, they offer.

Unfortunately, it may turn off some buyers that may have wanted to buy your home.

It also may prohibit some buyers from passing the threshold because their "under foot wear" is not fitting to be viewed by the public, not to mention their realtor. :)

That is why we have Blue "over shoes" in our cars.  I also mandate our buyers make a trip to home depot to pick some up.  You will find them in the paint department, and if such a home is encountered on the showing schedule, then you have your bases covered.
