Today, the consumer/client holds a great amount of power. You have heard the story of, or have possibly personally experienced a single upset consumer, feeling as if they were treated less than fair, almost destroy the reputation of a business.
No, you cannot please everyone all of the time. (dad said that :-) ) - However, you can put your clients first and protect them from getting in harms way. If that even means sacrificing a sale, commission, or contractual agreement, because doing so is not in the best "interests" of your Client, it should not be allowed to go through.
There are those that come into our offices that are diligently interviewing multiple Real Estate agents and their teams. We see this more with representation involving Short Sales - Which compose over 60% of the current real estate market. After hearing their personal story; why they cannot afford their mortgage payments or what life changing event has transpired, we then came to the conclusion it would not be "best" for them to short sale their home.
This is a very brief example of putting your clients needs first. The fact of the matter is that we were the only team that had that opinion(out of three prior teams interviewed). We were also backed up by a Real estate attorney and a Certified Public Accountant. - We felt good giving "expert backed-up" advice!
